Welcome to the Brand New Kozy Bear Blog! My Name is Michelle Ann Young and I am one of the creators and founders of Kozy Bear and the Feefers as well as the voice behind the lovable Kozy Bear!

Kozy Bear & the Feefers first originated when my brother in law Simon Downes, who has a PhD in child psychology and bilingual education and runs a school for pre-school aged children in Tokyo, Japan, approached my husband, Robin Atkin Downes, about 5 years ago. Simon wanted Robin and I to help him create songs that would use “Practical English Phrases”. He wanted songs that were fun and catchy but also songs that would help a child who was either a primary or secondary English language speaker to be able to use the words or phrases he or she learned in daily life! I mean who doesn’t love “Mary Had a Little Lamb” but it doesn’t really help in the language learning department. Robin and I began working on the songs. We are both actors and singers based here in the heart of Lala land. Robin, (my hubby) is also an accomplished musician and an amazing voice-actor, so we knew we had the ability to make things happen! We were thrilled to be creating something that we felt was unique, educational and fun. As a future Mommy and proud Auntie I knew that we were at the beginning of an exciting journey with a project that was near and dear to our hearts and something that I could share with my niece and nephew and also my own children someday!

Since then, Kozy Bear is exploding! We have created a wonderful world of exciting and innovative Characters, two cd’s of fun filled educational songs and we are most proud of The Kozy Bear &The Feefers DVD! It took months to put together and finish but all our hard work paid off. We were able to work with some of the best and most talented designers, puppeteers and production crew out there. Some of our puppeteers had worked for the famous Jim Henson Company. They worked long hard hours and I was truly amazed. I found a new respect for puppeteers. Try holding your hand over your head for thirty minutes straight and then add a five pound weight. I don’t know how they did it! Check out the clips from the kozy Bear DVD on our website click on

On April 26th, Kozy Bear & the Feefers will debut it’s first live action show in Tokyo, Japan under the direction of Dr. Simon Downes. It will be the first time Kozy Bear will be performing ‘Live” in front of a sold out audience.
